During wrinkle treatment with botulinum toxin (known as: Botox), the treated muscles are specifically relaxed and muscle activity is inhibited. The classic areas of application for Botox are wrinkles in the upper third of the face, such as forehead wrinkles ("worry lines"), glabellar wrinkles ("frown lines") and wrinkles around the eyes ("crow's feet").

How does botulinum toxin work?

Botox reversibly inhibits signal transmission between the nerve and muscle, causing temporary muscle relaxation that leads to wrinkle smoothing.
Botox takes 4-7 days to take effect and usually lasts 4-6 months.

What are possible side effects and when should botulinum toxin treatment be avoided?

In rare cases, Botox treatments may cause minor bruising, swelling and redness.
Treatment with Botox should be avoided if you have known blood clotting disorders, during pregnancy, or if you have muscle disorders.

How much does botulinum toxin treatment cost?

Prices vary depending on the location and the amount of work involved. In general, costs of about 280 to 480 euros can be expected.
