Psoriasis
Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease. It is not contagious, but in severe cases it can seriously affect the lives of those affected. The scaly skin lesions can occur anywhere on the body. Many patients also experience changes in the nails.
In 1/5 of patients, psoriatic arthritis develops over the years, including in the joints of the fingers and toes. Psoriasis occurs in episodes, between which there may be a long period without symptoms.
In psoriasis therapy, the basic skin treatment is indispensable for those affected: the important thing is the fat that is supplied to the skin from the outside. Moisturizing oil baths or ointments rich in fat have a positive effect on the condition of the skin. If the skin is in an acute episode, the scaly layer on the affected areas must be removed before psoriasis treatment. Then ointments with various active ingredients are used.
In some cases, systemic therapy with injections is also unavoidable.
