Upper eyelid plastic
Droopy tissue on the upper eyelids can make the eye area look tight and tired. The upper eyelids are also known as drooping eyelids. If sufferers are bothered by this, an upper eyelid lift is recommended.
Aesthetics and functionality are always considered when treating drooping eyelids. During an eyelid lift, it is important not to remove too much tissue, as this can lead to restrictions in eyelid closure. The operation therefore requires a lot of experience and surgical skill.
What is the procedure for an upper eyelid lift?
The procedure takes place under outpatient conditions. The treatment takes place under local anesthesia and optionally additional twilight sleep. After the effect of the anesthesia has set in, the excess tissue (skin, muscle, connective tissue) on the eyelid is removed. The incisions are closed with fine suture material and protected by plaster bandages.
Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) usually takes between one and two hours.
What aftercare does an upper eyelid lift require?
After the eyelid lift, you will rest for about an hour in our practice. If no side effects occur, you can leave the practice accompanied.
During the first days it is important to cool the treatment areas regularly. In this way, you can counteract swelling and pain. In addition, the head can be elevated to reduce swelling. After seven days, we look at the healing process and remove the stitches.
Some redness, swelling and hematomas may remain visible for a longer time, but will disappear within about two weeks.
What are the risks of an upper eyelid lift?
Usually the discomfort after the operation is manageable and limited to slight swelling, redness and bruising. Occasionally, sensitivity in the treatment area may be temporarily disturbed. Rarely, postoperative bleeding, inflammation, wound dehiscence or infections occur.
When can I return to work or sports?
Patients are often able to return to work after 3-4 days.
Physical exertion and sports should be avoided for at least two to three weeks.
What does an upper eyelid lift cost?
The costs of an upper eyelid lift vary depending on the individual findings and the associated surgical effort. In general, costs of about 2000 euros can be expected.
